| This year I celebrated my silver anniversary in my relationship with the guitar. It's been 25 years of absolute enjoyment and has connected me with community as a teacher, student, performing songwriter, friend, and mentor. Guitar is as much a part of my life as icecream in summertime, being hypnotized by a Northwest sunset, or Pagliacci pizza with pesto sauce.
Playing and composing with it is like embarking on a journey in a vast, magical jungle alive with the smell of creative fruit. I've taught it to people as young as 6 and people as young as 73. The best time to start learning it is always now. |
| I teach all styles of guitar, with the exception of classical. Beginning students, by the end of the 5th lesson, will have a grasp of the basic components of music theory, tempo, meter, rhythm, pitch, notation, dynamics, ear training and song structure, and will have the tools to build any chord without having to rely soley on a chord diagram or notation to do so. Students will gain insight into their musical goals and the role of music in their life as appropriate to their age and way of self-expressing this. With this foundation the sky is the limit for all students at any level of playing. My promise is to coach, guide, mentor, support and provide the tools needed to take students where they want to go. |
