   An innate sense of curiosity, an affinity for community, a gift of voice, and facility of language comprise Marguerite Conti’s sensibility as an artist. Creative expression emerges not only in her capacity as a musician and composer, but in her action in community and approach as teacher, designer, entrepreneur, and student of life.
   Marguerite was born to 2nd generation Italian-Irish-Czech parents from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania who migrated to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1947 and became known for their popular, family-owned Italian restaurant, La Villa Conti. There, Marguerite grew up eating great food, listening to country, pop, and rock radio and perusing her older siblings musical libraries that consisted of The Beatles, Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Dylan, and other artists who revolutionized popular music and culture. The fervor of this era dramatically exposed the impact that individuals and generations in action can have on contemporary art and thought. Seeded with this awareness, and inspired by her oldest brother’s piano playing, Marguerite began studying the piano at age 7 and in (continued)
